Design and build, under one roof
DECK HERO is led by Dan Waring: carpenter, designer and business graduate. We're a small team working across Sydney, the Central Coast and Newcastle. We design your deck, build it, and handle the council approval if it needs one, so the whole job runs through one team, from the first drawing to the last screw.
That means honest advice up front, a tidy site while we’re there, and a deck that still looks good in ten years.

Design, build and approvals usually mean three different firms. With us, it’s one team. Your deck is drawn and thought through properly before anyone picks up a saw, and the same plans go straight to council when an approval is needed.

Your deck drawn to scale: layout, levels, structure and detail, so you can see exactly what you’re getting before it’s built.

Built by the same team behind the drawings, with quality materials and tidy workmanship that’s made to last.

If your deck needs council sign-off, we prepare the plans and lodge the CDC or DA on your behalf.

Our story
Dan has spent twenty years in the building industry. Before Deck Hero he co-founded British Log Cabins, where he designed log homes for many years. Draw a whole house out of timber and watch it go together on site, and a deck holds no surprises. That’s where our one rule comes from: draw it properly first, then build it.
We started where we live (Avoca Beach) and now work right across Sydney, the Central Coast and Newcastle.
Today, Deck Hero is Dan plus a small, trusted team of tradespeople we’ve worked alongside for years. That means we take on more work without dropping the standard, with the right hands on every job.
The Coast is hard on timber: salt air, big sun, the odd southerly buster. Decks here need to be built and finished with that in mind, so they’re still standing strong years on. That’s the whole point of Deck Hero.
