How this is calculated & assumptions
Decking = area ÷ (board width + gap), plus waste. Substructure is estimated by treating the deck as roughly square — real layouts vary, so treat these as a shopping-list starting point.
- Oil: 8 m²/L × 2 coats. Screws: 2 per board/joist crossing, rounded up. Placeholder rates — TBC.
- Joist/bearer/post counts are indicative — size to AS 1684 for real loads. TBC.
